Experiences of homementors
In the beginning, we mostly focused on schoolwork. That served as the starting point. Our bond grew stronger because I was there for him every week as a homementor. We laughed a lot, but we also worked on shaping his future.
What I enjoy about being a homementor is being in contact with young people and witnessing their development, growth, and progress.
I was fortunate in my youth, but not everyone has had the same experience. I talk a lot with my student about things other than school; about their interests in life, and I also share my own experiences. It broadens their perspective and mine. We learn from each other.
